Dr. Mawuenyo Attawa Oyortey is a senior lecturer at the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, and a consultant urologist at Ho Teaching Hospital. She joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences as a lecturer in 2014 and is a member of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Ghana Association of Urological Surgeons (GAUS), American Urological Association (AUA), and the Society of Women in Urology (SWIU).
Education
Dr. Oyortey had her basic medical education at the University of Ghana Medical School and completed a fellowship programme in Urology with the West African College of Surgeons and a membership programme in general surgery with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health.
Work Experience
She had her housemanship training at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and then Tema General Hospital, where she continued as a medical officer. She had her residency training at Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and subsequently worked as a specialist at the Volta Regional Hospital for one year before returning to Korle-bu to complete her fellowship.
Science /Research Interests
Dr. Oyortey has an interest in endourology and male reconstructive urology. She is particularly interested in the provision of quality health care whiles preventing catastrophic health expenditure.
