Dr. Magalys Lopez Cuba is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Pathology at the School of Medicine (SOM), University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. She is also a Consultant Pathologist at the Ho-Teaching Hospital. She has a Fellowship in Pathology and a Master of Science (MSc) Bioenergetics and Natural Medicine.
Previously, she was a Director of the Hospital and Senior Lecturer of Western University and Physical Culture University and Medicine Schools in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Dr. Cuba has 31 years of experience as a Medical Doctor (MD), 27 years as Pathologist.
She joined the University of Health Allied Sciences in November 2018.
Education
She graduated as a Doctor in Medicine (MD) in 1988, at the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba (School of Medical Sciences 2), Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. In 1992, she graduated as Pathologist Specialist and in 2009 obtained a master’s degree in Naturalist and Bioenergetics Medicine, all from the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba.
Work Experience
She worked at the Clinic Surgical Hospital CMC. Bayamo. She pursued Residency in Pathology for 4 years performing both teaching and clinical roles. She later worked at the Clinic Surgical Hospital “Felix Lugones Ramirez”, Pilon of Manzanillo, Granma, as Pathologist for 7 years. In 2000, she worked at Emilio Barcenas Pier Hospital, Segundo Frente, Santi ago de Cuba as Pathologist. Dr. Cuba was concurrently the Director of the Hospital, Vive-Directorate of Municipal Office of the Ministry of Public health, Head of Quality Department of the Hospital and Senior Lecturer in School of Medicine, Western University and Physical Culture University. From 2009 to 2011, she was worked at the St. Joseph’s Orthopedic Hospital, Koforidua as Head of Pathology. In 2013 she was Senior Pathologist for 3 years in JDW National Referral Hospital Thimphu, Bhutan. She worked as Part time in University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Ho, Ghana from November, 2018 and later became a full time Senior Lecturer in March of 2019, Head of Pathology Department in August of 2019 and a Consultant Pathologist in Ho Teaching Hospital.
Science / Research Interests
Dr. Magalys Lopez Cuba’s area of research interest is the Incidence and Prevention of Cancer of the breast and cervix. She has participated in numerous International Postgraduate courses of Pathology. She participated in different scientific meeting.
