About the School of Medicine
The School of Medicine, one of the seven schools of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), was established in 2012 as the fifth public Medical School in Ghana. It is dedicated to the education and training of highly skilled medical professionals, distinguished by their excellence, integrity and innovation in healthcare delivery. Strategically positioned within Ghana's only health-focused university, the School benefits from a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to training.
The School initially admitted its first cohort of students in 2014, graduating its first batch of Physician Assistants in 2018 and Medical Doctors in 2020. Since then, it has successfully graduated many cohorts of Medical Doctors and Physician Assistants who are contributing significantly to various sectors of the healthcare system.
Currently, the School offers three academic programmes: the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB); the Bachelor of Physician Assistantship (Medical); and the combined Bachelor and Master of Science in Psychology programme. The curriculum integrates both pre-clinical and clinical training, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to excel in their professions.
