A Message from the Head of Department

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Pharmacology, the academic hub where the science of drugs and their impact on human health comes to life. At the School of Medicine, pharmacology-related courses are delivered by our highly skilled faculty from the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmacy, in close collaboration with Clinical and Basic Science Departments.

Our Department plays a pivotal role in equipping future healthcare professionals with a deep understanding of drug actions, therapeutic uses, interactions and potential adverse effects. Through a carefully designed curriculum, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, toxicology and drug discovery.

We are committed to excellence in teaching, research and professional development. Our Faculty members are actively engaged in cutting-edge research in areas such as experimental pharmacology, forensic pharmacology and computational drug design, integrating modern technologies like artificial intelligence to advance personalised medicine.

The Department also works hand in hand with healthcare providers, pharmaceutical industries and regulatory agencies to promote medication safety, develop new therapeutic strategies and support national and international drug policy initiatives. We offer continuing professional development programmes to keep healthcare practitioners updated on emerging treatments and drug safety protocols.

Whether you are joining us as a student, researcher, or collaborator, you will find a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment that encourages innovation, critical thinking and the pursuit of knowledge. Our goal is to prepare graduates who will contribute to safe, effective and ethical use of medicines in clinical practice and research.
