Harry Tagbor is a qualified medical doctor and a public health specialist with a well-established international reputation for original research in tropical medicine and capacity building. He has extensive expertise in managing multi-disciplinary projects and people to achieve excellent outputs of the highest international standard.
During the past 10 years his research work has focused on the epidemiology and control of malaria in children and pregnant women; epidemiology and control of neglected tropical diseases, evaluation of disease control interventions and investigation of implementation strategies for effective health delivery. He has through his research made significant scientific contributions to health policy and practice and has gained professional recognition for his work.
He has also been involved in a number of activities to strengthen capacity for postgraduate training including the development and running of PhD Courses, training of supervisors and establishment of mentorship programmes for postdoctoral fellows in the College of Health Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology.
He was Head of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi – Ghana prior to joining UHAS.
Prior to embarking on his academic career he had worked as Senior Medical Officer and Director of Health Services in the Nkoranza district of the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana from 1995 to 2006.
He has over 40 publications including peer reviewed articles and book chapters to his credit.
