Dr. Manuel Betancourt Benjamin is a Specialist in Radiology, Senior Lecturer and Consultant. He joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2015 and he is currently the Head of Department for the Department of Medical Imaging, School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences. He is a member of Ghana Association of Radiologists.
Education
He had his education as a Medical Doctor at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, Santiago de Cuba. He later trained as First Degree Specialist in Radiology at the same institution.
Work Experience
After the mandatory one year housemanship experience at Baracoa Hospital, he worked as a specialist at Guantanamo Teaching Hospital, University of Health, Santiago de Cuba for a year. He later worked at the 37 Millitary Hospital for 2 years. He again moved to Guantanamo Teaching Hospital to work for a year. Upon his return to Ghana, he joined the Department of Radiology, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Tamale Campus, University for Development Studies, Ghana as a Senior Lecturer where he served for 2 years. In November, 2015, he joined School of Medicine, UHAS and he is currently serving as a member of Faculty in the School as well as a Consultant in the Ho Teaching Hospital.
Science/research output
His principal area of research is congenital malformations and cardiovascular images. He has published a paper captioned “Sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound in the diagnosis of early cardiac congenital malformations.2001-2006. Human pentastomiasis, case report”.
