Prof. Orish Verner Ndudiri is an associate professor and senior lecturer with the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Prior to this he was a senior medical officer in the Ghana Health service, working at the Accident and Emergency Unit of Effia Nkwanta regional hospital in the Western Region of Ghana. He was the clinical coordinator of work the world program, supervising and teaching oversees medical and allied health students undergoing clinical electives at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital. He is a parasitologist and a Physician with great interest in Infectious Disease research.
Education
He had his medical training from the College of Health Sciences Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nnewi Anambara State Nigeria. He bagged a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and International Health from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Ireland (RSCI) and Master of Philosophy in Parasitology from the university of Cape Coast Ghana. He is presently doing his Doctorate Program in Public Health.
Work Experience
He practiced as a Primary Care Physician with Hygeia health maintenance Organization/ Lagoon Hospitals Lagos Nigeria for 5 years. He spent 2 years as a Program Manager for Hygeia foundation a private sector participant with the Global Fund project in Nigeria. He joined the Ghana Health service where he worked at the Medicine, Pediatrics and Accident and Emergency departments of the Effia nkwanta Regional Hospital. He was involved in teaching of students coming for clinical rotation and conducting research within the hospital and field studies in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis for 6 years. He joined full time main stream academics when he joined University of Health and Allied sciences in July 2015.
Science/research output
Dr Orish’s areas of interest are Parasitology, Public health, Infectious disease, Co-Infections, Immunology, Antimicrobial interactions with the immune response, Antimicrobial Resistance. He is a member of American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) and The World Federation of Parasitologists. He has over 25 publications in peered-reviewed journals and 5 conference presentations. He has authored a book on stress management.
