Dr. Kokou H. Amegan-Aho is a Lecturer and the Acting Head of the Department of Paediatrics, School of Medicine (UHAS), University of Health and Allied Sciences. He is a Member of the Ghana College of Physicians, and the West African College of Physicians.
Dr. Amegan-Aho has expertise in paediatric health care delivery and medical education, with focus on sickle cell disease and childhood cancer.
He is very fluent in both English and French languages.

Work Experience
He has 12 years of clinical practice. He had his Junior Residency training in Paediatrics and Child Health at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital from 2011 to 2014.
As a Lecturer, he develops and teaches General Paediatrics and Community Paediatrics course work. This includes clinical skills training and examination. He also organises teaching and research in the Department of Paediatrics, UHAS. He works as a Paediatrician at the Volta Regional Hospital (VRH), Ho since 2015. Dr. Amegan-Aho served as the Regional Lead Facilitator of the Paediatric Emergency Triage, Assessment and Treatment (ETAT) trainings, Volta Region. He also coordinated the Make Every Baby Count Initiative (MEBCI) trainings at the Volta Regional Hospital, in collaboration with Kybele®.
Science/Research Output
Dr. Amegan-Aho has particular research interest in Paediatric Haematology and Oncology research. He is a member of the Paediatric Haematology Team of the Department of Child Health, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra. He was a sub-Investigator in the first sickle cell clinical trial in Ghana (TADO Study). He is also a member of the Sub-Committee on Neonatal Jaundice, Paediatric Society of Ghana.
He conducted a one-year quality improvement program to promote child heath care at the Sogakope District Hospital in the Volta Region. This proved that regular specialist outreach clinics could result in significant reduction in institutional under-5 and neonatal mortality rates in health facilities without resident paediatrician.
