MARTIN TAMATEY

 

Professor Martin Tamatey

Professor Martin Tamatey is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at the National Cardiothoracic, Accra. He joined the University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2016. He is currently the Head of the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine. He is a member of the Ghana Medical Association, Ghana Research Society and the African Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons.

Education

He trained in the University of Ghana Medical School, and then specialized in cardiothoracic surgery under the West African College of Surgeons, in the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. He did further training in adult cardiac surgery in the Madras Medical Mission.

Work Experience

He has worked as a cardiothoracic surgeon in the National Cardiothoracic Centre since 2007.

Research

Prof. Tamatey has published a book entitled ‘Running Efficient Heart Centres in West Africa. He has also published several peer-reviewed articles.
