Ms. Ethel Akpene Atefoe is a lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine and Mental health, School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences. She is a Clinical psychologist by profession.
Education
She had her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Ghana, Legon and later obtained her Master of philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology in the same university.
Work experience
She served as a graduate teaching/research assistant in the Department of Psychology, University of Ghana for 2 years where she assisted with all activities pertaining to teaching, supervision and research in her department. During the same period, she practiced as a Clinical psychologist at Chance for Children (CFC), a Non-governmental organization dedicated to the care, rehabilitation and re-integration of street, orphaned and abused children, where she was responsible for the psychological needs of the children as well as training of caregivers in best childcare practices.
Science/Research output
Her research area is in determinants of mental health, mental health promotion and adolescent self-esteem. She has 7 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 1 book chapter and 4 conference presentations.
