Dr. Maite Esquijarosa Hechavarria is a specialist in Anaesthesia/Resuscitation and a Lecturer with the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care of the School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho.
She is also a consultant in Anesthesia and Pain Management in the Ho Teaching Hospital (Formerly, Volta Region Volta Regional Hospital).
Dr. Maite Esquijarosa Hechavarria was Head of the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management at the School of Medicine of the University of Health and Allied Science, Ho, Volta Region.
Before joining the University, she was the Senior Lecturer at the Higher Institute of Medical Science, Ciego de Avila, Cuba.
Education
Dr. Maite Hechavarria had her medical education at the Higher Institute of Medical Science in Ciego de Avila, Cuba and later pursued her Specialist course in Anesthesia and Resuscitation at the same Institute.
Work Experience
She practiced as a doctor in the Cuban Ministry of Interior for 2 years after which she joined the Ciego de Avila Teaching Hospital as a Resident Doctor in Anesthesia and Resuscitation for 4 years. She later continued working as a Specialist in Anesthesia in the same Hospital since 2003. In 2010, she was part of the Cuban Medical Mission sent to Ghana, where she worked as an Anesthesia Specialist at Saint Joseph Hospital in Koforidua, Eastern Region for 2 years. She also worked for General Family Hospital, Tema as a Physician/Anesthesia Specialist for 1 year.
Dr. Hechavarria is a member of the Cuban Society of Anaesthesiologists.
Science /Research Interests
Her interest area of research is Anaesthesiology and Pain Management. She has five (5) publications in Anesthesia and supervised several research works prepared by students both in Cuba and Ghana in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of degrees in the key areas of the medical field. She has embarked on a number of new publications to enrich her skills which have been submitted pending approval for publication.
