Dr. Gertrudis De Los Angeles Hernandez Gonzalez is a Senior Lecture at Department of Internal Medicine and Therapeutics, School of Medicine at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. She is a registered Neurologist who is accredited with the Medical and Dental Council in Ghana. She is a member of the Ghana Neurosciences Society. Dr. Gonzalez is also a Member of the Cuban Neurosciences Society. She is a member of the Ghana Medical Association. Dr. Gonzalez is a Consultant Neurologist at Ho Teaching Hospital. She is also credited for the creation of the first specialized reference neurology consulting room at the Hospital.
Education
Dr. Gertrudis De Los Angeles Hernandez Gonzalez had her Doctor of Medicine (MD). University for Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba. School of Medical Sciences Guantanamo. Cuba. (July 1992). She also had her first Degree in Neurology from the University for Medical Sciences. Havana, Cuba (December 1995). Dr. Gonzalez has a Master in Sciences (MSc) in Cognitive Neurosciences from the Cuban National Center for Scientific Research, Havana, Cuba. (May 2007). In October, 2007, she graduated with a Second Degree as a Fellow Neurologist from the University for Medical Sciences, Havana, Cuba. She has been practicing for 27 years as a Medical Doctor, and 24 years as Neurologist.
Work Experience
With Twenty four years as a Neurologist, Dr. Gonzalez has a long experience in the fields of teaching, research and medical practice. She authored or co-authored some peer-reviewed articles, scientific conference plenary presentations, posters and abstracts. She has as well participated and coordinated some multidisciplinary national and international research projects and conference.

Her research interest spans in the study and characterization of reflex epilepsies, Management and Clinical Trials in Multiple Sclerosis, Human Brain Mapping Project, Brain Basis of psychometric intelligence, Evaluation of methods to study brain tumors with Neuroimaging, Functional Connectivity of Resting State fMRI in Brain Tumors, Early markers of cerebral vascular damage in neurologically asymptomatic hypertensive patients, Non pharmacological therapy for the care of people with Alzheimer Disease, Stratified Screening Program for Neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood, Awareness and characterization of Epilepsy in Ghana, Use and abuse of antibiotics, Stroke. Awareness in Hypertension, Antiphospholipid Syndrome, etc.
